One of the most attractive feature of the
Luger is the extraordinary variety of markings it bears. This is probably why this pistol
is so appreciated by the firearms collecting community. It is true that few handguns were
used and adopted by such a diversity of countries. Sometimes these contracts represented
merely some hundreds of pieces but it is not rare to see these foreign contract Lugers
sporting exotic crests and proof markings. Bulgaria for instance ordered a first batch of
some 1,000 models 1900 during the 1901/02's. The country was then a principality infeoffed
to Turquey, traditionally a friend of Germany. This explaining that. In the course of
1908, Bulgaria ordered again a lot of 1,000 to 1,500 models 1906 in calibre 7,65
Parabellum. Toward 1910, preparing a war for independence, it placed an order of
