In 1933, Hitler took the power. As a result a
vast rearmement program was launched from 1934 on. Due to its excellent reputation in the
sport firearms business the firm Heinrich Krieghoff succeeded to secure a contract of
10,000 Luger pistols for the German Air force (Luftwaffe). The firm's goal was not to
become a major handgun producer but to catch some interesting contracts as aircraft
machine-guns. Some 14,000 Krieghoff Lugers were eventually produced until 1945. To
