The Colt "Government" series 80 is
available in three versions among which are the "Commander" and the
"Officer". This later, offered from 1985 on, is a compact version. Not only the
barrel length is reduced to 3 1/2", but the handle is shorter as well, holding no
more than six cartridges. The barrel mouth is bell-shaped and the recoil spring is double.
The field stripping is slightly different in that the front spring bushing, locked to the
slide, must be first pushed and turned to allow its disengagement. To get more
